Our three-month internships offer an opportunity for hard-working and teachable young adults to develop spiritually, personally, and professionally as servant leaders while serving international conference guests in a Jesus-centered community. At Schloss Heroldeck, we are on a mission to rebuild and strengthen our ministry after the challenges posed by COVID-19. 2024 marks a significant milestone as we open our doors for the first time in spring since the pandemic began. You'll be an active part of rebuilding the ministry here at the Castle with us. While our conference calendar may not be as packed as it is during the summer, this internship presents a unique opportunity for an intentional and transformative experience. |
Dates, Costs and Accommodation
Spring: January 29th - April 28th, 2024 Summer: May 27th - August 25th, 2024 We charge a 200€ non-refundable admissions fee once you have been accepted into the Abide Summer Internship program. Other than that, the internship comes at no further cost to you. We offer accommodation in dormitory-style rooms and provide meals during your stay at Schloss Heroldeck. Your only financial responsibilities are covering your travel expenses to and from Schloss Heroldeck, as well as securing your own medical insurance for the duration of your stay here. Further details can be found below. We also highly recommend that you bring some additional funds for personal expenses, such as optional trips, toiletries, and other incidentals. |
Internship Overview
SERViceAs intern, you will have the opportunity to lead or be a part of a department that helps serve our many international conference guests. You will serve up to 40 hours a week. According to your application and a following phone interview, we will assign you to one of the following departments: Kitchen/food preparation, dining hall, maintenance/landscaping, housekeeping, coffee shop, or dishwashing. This will be your main department, but please be prepared to be flexible, as you will have to help out in other areas as needed. |

Internship FAQ
WHAT ARE THE GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR BEING AN INTERN
We are looking for faithful men and women of God, between 18 and 28 years old, who want to be intentional in their discipleship to Jesus, enhance their leadership skills, and be part of a ministry restart.
HOW MANY HOURS OF VOLUNTEER WORK WILL I BE DOING PER WEEK?
Up to 40 hours per week.
WILL I HAVE OFF DAYS THROUGHOUT THE WEEK?
Yes, you will have off days throughout the week to rest and recharge.
ARe there shops nearby to buy toiletries or groceries?
We are about a 15-minute walk from a large grocery store that sells almost everything you could possibly need (Note: shops are closed on Sundays).
Do you offer meals for the volunteers?
Yes, we offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily for all volunteers.
Our chef prepares meals from Monday to Friday, and on the weekends, interns are encouraged to cook for themselves using the provided food, kitchen and utensils.

How do the accommodation arrangements look like?
As a male, you will live in a male dorm, and as a female, you will live in a female dorm. The dorms will be overseen by a dorm steward.
Can i do my laundry during my time AT Schloss Heroldeck?
Yes, you can do your laundry once a week for no extra charge.
Do I need medical insurance?
Yes, in Austria everyone must have medical insurance by law. Therefore, you must be insured when you arrive.

In Austria you normally pay the bill immediately in cash/credit card and then hand the receipt in to your insurance company and they will pay you back.

HOw much Spending money shall i bring?
This is a very individual consideration.
We might be able to go on some trips too and you'll be able to purchase some souvenirs or we'll go out to eat.

I want to Travel during my Internship Is this possible?
This can be considered on a case-to-case basis. In general, we expect all interns to be fully committed to Schloss Heroldeck
during their time here.

CAN i Come AT AN Earlier Date and Can I stay Longer Than 3 MOnths?

ARE ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO PERMITTED?
The use of tobacco is NOT permitted for the duration of the internship. We have a strict no-alcohol policy on campus.

We want to focus on assisting you in living daily and boldly with Jesus. In every situation. We hope to deepen our everyday discipleship to Jesus through intentional morning devotions, topical workshops, implementing spiritual disciplines, and more.
What is the benefit of practicing everyday discipleship to JESUS in COMMUNITY?
You can gain encouragement and profit from accountability that you may not always have.
